These are your dream project cars to work with
“I have too many to list, but two stand out:
“My aunt’s backyard neighbor has a 1969-70 AMX on his backyard blocks. I’ve offered to buy it from him a few times, but I’ve always been told he’ll restore it “someday”.
“When he died, the car (according to my cousin) was literally pulled off the field with a chain around the rear axle and towed away on a flat plate.
“A few years later, I passed a facility that had two 1966 Thunderbird convertibles, a Citroën SM, and a few other vehicles.
“I was greeted by an elderly woman who refused to discuss the cars and threatened to shoot me if I came to her door again.
“I drove past this place many times over the next 10-12 years and watched the cassava plant slowly consume all the cars.
“Finally the property was sold and is now a Marathon gas station. Don’t know what happened to the cars but I’m sure they were beyond repair by the time they were towed out of the yard. “
Some well-deserved submissions from this poster, but it was that old Citroën that stood out for me. The SM was marketed by the French manufacturer as a high-performance coupe from 1970 to 1975.
