this damn thing…. (EV 2020 ioniq Limited)

10 years ago, if you told me “steal it, you’ll get an EV, and it’ll be a hyundai….” I would try to make sure you signed up for some sorta rehab facility ……

Last February (year 2021) my wife on a Friday night sat on the couch after work, like “I want a heated chair” (for her 2016) … and if there’s one thing to know. about jeeps they are great. until you own one, and then you realize that stuff is actually a crazy box… so I can’t wait to get rid of that thing…. anyway, I did said “ya know, it’s probably cheaper to just hop in a new car that already has heated seats…. ” so we started scouring the internet looking for new cheap cars (that jeep was already there.) runs about 40km and is about to start getting expensive – lousy transmission) . . .

about an hour later we stumbled upon this… (we also debated PHEV, but went with EV, as it would have worked better for what we needed it to do). … anyway… we’ve seen hyundai deal with these and our local dealer is trying to run out of their 2020 stock…

we called them in the morning…they said they had the car in the base model we were looking for. “perfect! we’re on our way.” we got there, the sales guy didn’t know how to sell an electric car, so he said “yes, i don’t know much about this, it’s here…” that was amazing, because we didn’t need to hear a dumb pitch.we did it for a spin….it did everything we expected. …. somewhere in all they convince us of the Limit as opposed to the base model…

We were like “great. let’s run the numbers. “the financial clown was trying to solve a bunch of crap. I was like “lol. I work in legal/accounting. so no…” (I don’t).. but he came back with $700 off, $150/month 35 months buy $18k….i checked the numbers on the base model…it’s like $10/month less. and bought a few hundred less….we went with limited quantity because it was significantly nicer.

Where have I been ….. oh yes that’s a heated seat …..

anyway. That’s great…but here we are more than a year and a half later…passing the spike, free charging at work. save almost $300/month. The car actually drives very well. get around 190 miles per charge compared to the claimed 170. nice quiet interior (battery absorbs a lot of noise)… it even has adaptive cruise control and automatic lane control. My wife’s parents even tried it and were impressed, and while they did, I sat in the back, which has plenty of leg room. it proved me wrong about all of our concerns about EVs, including range and charge time worries… this car continues to impress me every damn day. hyundai really hit it out of the park with that little car.

Inexpensive EVs are the future of transportation. Why not join early? The car is in good condition, used properly, everything is in good condition.
