There isn’t a place in the NFL for Cam Newton anymore

Cam Newton has been a household name for over a decade. It comes with territory when you have the kind of career he already has. National Championships, check. allegations debauchery scandal, check. Heisman Cup, check. Choose number 1, test. Midfielder set a record, check. Players influence culture, check. First black quarterback ever to be a full MVP, check. One of eight black quarterbacks ever started in a Super Bowl game, check. It’s a pretty impressive resume when you put it all in. Which brings us to this point, where Newton is the one trying to erase it all with his antics – again.

“Tell me how these random people go on to get jobs?” Newton asked in a video he posted on social media on Monday. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll show you. I can’t wait to show you.”

“Aren’t 32 assholes* (from midfield) better than me.”

Featured video shows Newton warming up and working out, as he announced he’ll be taking part in Auburn’s Pro Day on Tuesday. The man with the perfect resume listed above is ready to return to the NFL after spending last season as a free agent.

For him, it’s unbelievable that the likes of Kenny Pickett, Kyle Trask, Desmond Ridder, Andy Dalton and Sam Howell can all start Week 1. of the 2023 season and he won’t. But for anyone who has paid attention over the past few years, it’s easy to see why they had a chance and Newton didn’t.

The numbers explain it all. But, there are some other things too

If Newton were brought into training camp by a team, he would be a 34-year-old quarterback vying for a spot on the depth charts. Despite what Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers got us through the last few seasons, look around – The league is getting younger, not older, especially for the midfielders.

And age is just the first number not on Newton’s side.

Since Newton left the Carolina Panthers — for the first time — his stats was the easiest case against him. Since his debut in New England in 2020, and between his time with the Patriots and a brief stint with the Panthers, Newton has appeared in 23 games, starting 20 of them, and has a successful record. volume 7-13. During that time, he made 29 touchdowns – 17 of which hit the ground – 10 fumbles and 15 interceptions.

If Newton’s numbers weren’t enough of a deterrent, then his words did the rest. COVID-19 has ended his run with patriots like him initially resisted vaccination.

“Everything is about winning, and if you’re not built for that, that’s not the place for you,” he said of New England in an episode of I’m an athlete.

Then there was his return to the Panthers.

“Carolina, I’ve put myself in another damn situation,” Newton explained on The Pivot Podcast last year. “I was signed on Thursday, I play on Sunday. At what point do you think you will be successful? That next week, I start. That’s still less than 10 days since you joined the group and you’re still trying to learn how to commit a crime. … So before I sit here and allow the story that Cam is no more, Cam takes full responsibility and says that Cam has put herself in a dilemma.

And finally, a man was once in boiling water because some of the things he said to a female reporterdecision Share your views on women with one Barstool – view pictures – podcast.

“A bad slut is someone who just, you know, ‘Girl, I’m a bad bitch, I’m doing this, I’m doing that.’ I partially look but I do not act partly.

“There are a lot of mean women. And I say whores in a way, not to devalue a woman but just to detract from the aesthetics of what they perceive to be a boss chicken.

“Now, for me, a woman is about taking care of her own business but knowing how to serve the needs of men. Right? And I think a lot of times when you have that aesthetic of ‘I’m a boss bitch, I’m this, I’m that.’ No man! But you can’t cook. You don’t know when to shut up! You don’t know how to allow a man to lead.

If you’re reading this, it was before or after Newton attended Auburn’s Professional Day. But no matter how he presents himself, that won’t change anything that’s working against him – many of which are his own doing.

Newton was once a force of nature generation on the football field with a résumé that deserves consideration at the Hall of Fame, and with a picturesque smile and charisma to endorse any product on Earth. But that was later and this is now. And at this point, he is a cigar shop owner and a podcast host that is trying desperately to hold on to what has been his identity for nearly his entire life – the quarterback.

Letting go is hard, but necessary. And for Cam Newton, it also becomes necessary if he wants to keep his legacy intact. Because while there may not be 32 better starting quarterbacks than he is in the NFL, there are even more who are less at risk than he is willing to be.
