The Volkswagen Group promises better quality and new designs for its cars
Newly appointed Volkswagen Group President Oliver Blume plans to overhaul the auto group through several steps. A key part of that strategy is to ensure that the cars from Volkswagen and other sister brands promise better quality and new designs. The 54-year-old Volkswagen executive has suggested that a key strategy for the auto group will be to implement clear design languages on its cars to better differentiate them from one another. It will also help the group’s brands to differentiate themselves in ways that are better for each other.

When it comes to applying better quality and new design to automobiles, volkswagen announced the move to remove touch-sensitive keys on the steering wheel. The carmaker’s assault on promised quality comes from criticism that models like the Golf and ID.3 have received for their interior materials.
Blume also said Volkswagen’s core brand is looking at how it can bring iconic models like the Golf and Tiguan into an electric future, apparently with at least two electric models – the Golf EV and Tiguan EV. Interestingly, Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schafer said last month that the Golf will survive for the ninth generation. He hinted that there will be a new electric car positioned below the upcoming ID.3 and above the upcoming ID.2. Additionally, the automaker intends to retain the GTI suffix in the pure EV era.
The Volkswagen Tiguan SUV is likely to be last updated with an internal combustion engine cover. It will then have an all-electric powertrain, as Volkswagen has pledged to only produce electric cars in Europe from 2033. The automaker currently sells the Tiguan SUV in India. If SUVs enter the EV era, it could also come to India, as India is Volkswagen’s key market under the India 2.0 strategy and the country is a big market for electric vehicles, with demand growing rapidly. .
