The Story of Manga Bride of the Barrier Master Is Still Strong
When we have comics like this where someone is the bad guy and gets bullied, then gets picked on as the enemy. one For an important, desirable character, it can sometimes feel like that moment ends after… well… they get together and get married. With volume level 2 Later Bride of the Barrier Master In the manga, we have a situation where Kureha and Odayaka provide enough motivational elements and additional situations to sustain the story and keep the reader engaged.
Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers for the first episode of Bride of the Barrier Master manga below, as well as a plot summary for the second season.
So in first episode belong to Bride of the Barrier MasterFinally we are introduced to Hana and Hazuki Ichise. Both are practitioners of magic, although Hazuki is considered the golden child because she seems to be stronger. The truth is that Hana is the stronger of the two, to the point that she has three Shikigami spirits working with her and two are human, but her abilities do not manifest until later. Because of that, the family values Hazuki very much and ignores or mistreats Hana. But Hana is okay with that, because she wants a normal life.
However, Saku Ichinomiya, the head of the clan that maintains the barrier in Japan, relying on people to fight against evil supernatural forces, recognizes her power. He needs her support to repair and maintain one of the Five Pillars, now that he is the head of the clan and the family. This, in turn, means marrying her. So the entire first episode involves getting to the point where they meet and form an agreement. There is even a contract that guarantees Hana a peaceful life and an allowance so she can live carefree.
Given the nature of the arrangement, I read the second volume expecting there to be a little more opposition to the marriage before the ceremony. However, Bride of the Barrier Master The manga doesn’t linger or dwell too much on it. The wedding goes off without a hitch. While Saku’s mother and brother don’t approve, we do get to see how they react and treat each other when they meet Hana. So one of the things that could have dragged the story along in similar situations is largely resolved right away.
However, I do appreciate how the rest of the volume helps to provide other reasons to keep the story interesting. One is the Ichinomiya Pillar. We see two people fixing it. Given the nature of stories like this and the fact that there are five others, it makes me wonder if that could come back as a plot point. After all, it’s a big burden for Saku and those like him. Not to mention that Hana being so powerful could mean that others will need her help, now that she’s no longer hiding her power level.
We also get a chance to see what Saku’s daily life is like and how he uses his abilities to help others. Hana ends up getting involved in one such case. Of course, I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t read the volume. However, it also creates the potential for Hana to grow as an individual. It seemed in the first volume that, because of how she was treated by her family and others, she probably saw her abilities as something that needed to be put aside in order to live a peaceful life. Her work with Saku makes me wonder if that might change a bit and we might see them grow to work together for the common good.
Of course, there is also the developing relationship between Hana and Saku. We can see both of them enjoying bullying or criticizing each other in both the first two episodes. Hana has someone who knows exactly who she is and accepts her for it. Saku has someone who treats him like anyone else and can support him accordingly. It is really interesting to read through their interactions and their development as a couple. Especially when both of them exploit opportunities to gain an advantage to improve their own situation.
I really appreciate it Bride of the Barrier Master The manga’s pacing and I’m glad it doesn’t draw out elements for dramatic purposes. It could and does keep its wonderful, sometimes humorous tone. But the way it does it allows Hana to be an independent, strong, and genuinely funny heroine, while also allowing us to see Saku and the others appreciate her for who she is.
Episodes 1 and 2 of Bride of the Barrier Master manga is now available and Yen Press Volume 3 will be released on November 19, 2024. Yen Press also handles light novels outside of Japan.
