The second episode of Resident Evil 4 Anime proves this is the best video game adaptation

The Resident Evil 4 remake is coming, and as part of a promotional cycle, Capcom has released the Resident Evil 4 anime with one-minute episodes. Episode one premiered on March 20, and the new volume two continues to depict RE4 in an art style directly inspired by the anime World Masterpiece Theater, a series that showcases family-friendly classics family like Anne of Green Gables.

In episode two, Leon repeatedly rescues Ashley when she is kidnapped by many enemies. He gradually got worse and worse until the adorable “You’re dead” words appeared on the screen. A rainbow appeared and the Colmillos (wolves infected with Las Plagas and having tentacles-like things growing from within) danced in the sky.

It’s funny to see a short and sweet spoof of RE4’s plot and all the ways Leon can die. Video game adaptation is already a Hot topic in the entertainment industry in the past few years, with HBO Max’s The Last of Us being a well-known recent example of success. RE4’s anime might just be promotional short episodes for the RE4 remake, but it’s certainly one of the more compelling “adaptations” of video games.

The Resident Evil 4 remake releases on March 24 for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. Reviews were out and it earned a sparkling 10/10 on GameSpot’s Review Resident Evil 4. Reviewer Kurt Indovina praised the game for how it both reinvented what made RE4 so great, while retaining the original experience overall. “Resident Evil 4 remake is the reimagining that I wanted, but also not what I expected to get,” said Indovina. “As a Resident Evil 4 purist, I fear that mixing with the magic of an all-time classic will cause disaster. The Resident Evil 4 remake is different instead. with the original in many significant ways, but never compromised on anything that made it so revolutionary.”
