The reviews feature ‘Dorfromantik’ and ‘Dropsy’, plus the latest reviews and sales – TouchArcade

Hello gentle readers and welcome to SwitchArcade’s Spin on October 4, 2022. In today’s post we have some more mini reviews for you to check out. Both have one-word titles starting with D. I didn’t intend that, that’s just how it works. We then have a small pool of new releases to review, plus the usual listings of new and upcoming sales. Let’s get to work together!
Reviews & Small Views
Dorfromantik ($14.99)
God, this is scratching an itch. Dorfromantik is a very laid back strategy puzzle game where you place bricks to create a landscape. Based on how you arrange them, you will earn a certain number of points. If you need some kind of overarching goal, you might consider trying to get the highest score possible. As you complete sections, you’ll unlock new tile types and get bonuses based on nice special arrangements, and your little village will slowly take shape. There are several different modes to play with based on how much time you want to be in or how challenging you want to be.
Dorfromantik is an interesting game. It’s pleasant to look at, it’s pleasant to hear, and it’s pleasant to poke around. The controls in this Switch version are a bit awkward, and it’s clear that the game isn’t built for the controller interface, but they’re not bad enough to ruin the experience. If you are looking for a less stressful game to relax, Dorfromantik It’s just about the perfect ticket.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Dropsy ($9.99)
Dropsy, the game, is a surprisingly traditional gameplay of point-and-click adventure. It has some really unique animations, lots of fun puzzles to solve, and a pretty big world to explore. There are a lot of quirky characters to meet and socialize with, and the protagonist might be the weirdest of them all. Dropsy is a weird looking clown with a tragic past but still trying to make the world a happier place. He has a pretty simple way to deal with that: hug everyone and try to solve any immediate problems they have. That’s the majority of the game, at least until it’s completely gone by the end.
Dropsy like to show, not to say. Its iconic approach to everything makes some things harder than they really are necessary. It can be really difficult to figure out where to go or what to do because the game is not important in guiding you. Whether that is an issue or not is up to the individual. But you will spend a lot of time wandering around even if you don’t know what to do, leading to a very cumbersome gaming feeling. There’s something nice about being positive Dropsy strives to be, and I think, as a result, it’s worth fixing its flaws.
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5 / 5
New release
Let’s play Curling!! ($29.99)
Today, Imagineer has a cute little curling game for us. It has several different game modes and allows up to four players through local multiplayer. You can use the motion controls on the Joy-Cons to mimic the scanning process, if that’s what you want to do. If you want to scream it’s up to you HURRY HARDER or whatever. If your neighbors get mad, just tell them that you are Canadian and therefore cannot be avoided. I’m sure they will understand.
Alfred Hitchcock – Vertigo ($39.99)
Okay, so first of all, this has almost nothing to do with the Alfred Hitchcock movie other than go above and beyond its name. It says it’s loosely based on his movies and yes, “loosely” is the right word here. This sentence comes from the same developer as Blacksad: Under the skin, so you can expect a certain level of capacity. And that’s what you will get. It’s a competent adventure game with a few good ideas and a few things that keep it from reaching its full potential. I can’t recommend it with much vigor, but if you like your adventure games, you can find enough here to enjoy.
Let’s Sing ABBA ($39.99)
Here is the latest news let’s sing game, this time focusing on the music of Swedish pop giant ABBA. You get 31 songs from the band’s catalog to sing along to, including popular hits like Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!and Waterloo. There’s even a song on ABBA’s new album Journeys. Dress up your avatar in ABBA outfits to really get in the spirit. And if you need a microphone, let’s sing The app on your smartphone is ready and waiting. I won’t rate this one because the intergalactic law signed in 2007 states that Shaun Musgrave will never sing ABBA again as punishment for the destruction of the Earth. Sorry.
FerroSlug ($5.67)
I hope Nape Games is a little better at making puzzle sets than making puzzle plates. FerroSlug sees you controlling a strange slug-like creature being observed in a laboratory. You need to find a way to exit in each stage. Not seeing much here gets me excited, but maybe you feel differently.
