The player’s reception of Blood Bowl 3 is like a bloodbath

Blood bowl 3 released last week to a reception from players as brutal as one of its matches. Like it steam rating sitting at the ‘mostly negative’ mark, the Cyanide developers have posted feedback aims to “address the main topics of discussion”.
First, the warm-up is less stellar. Blood Bowl 3 experienced server issues and some “infinite load” crashes and errors that prevented some people from playing. All of these are Report fixed in a patch on Thursdayand some players have reported a marked improvement.
More unusual at release was a “bug” that caused many players who purchased Blood Bowl 3 on Steam to receive the incorrect version. The brutal version, which includes the core game along with an additional cosmetic and in-game bonus called Warpstone, is given to all players regardless of which version they purchased. Cyanide says it’s allowing players to keep the incorrectly issued currency, remove cosmetics they didn’t pay for, and grant those who legally purchased the Brutal Edition more in-game currency to they still have the increase as intended.
Earning money seems to be a big concern for players. Cyanide says that they “really believe our system is fair, rewarding, and optional” and that it “intends to implement features that allow players to be rewarded with cosmetic or Warpstone items [currency] through play as well as purchase.” For their part, players seem concerned that those features are not present in the game as they are and allege that other faction’s teams are complete and discoverable. in the game’s files but is on hold to be sold as DLC.
Cyanide also addressed the issue, stating that future factions “each are still under development to varying degrees of maturity.” They say a team is at a more advanced stage of development but still has “a lot of testing and validation to do”.
In short, Blood Bowl 3 is a bit of a mess, at least in the eyes of some players. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I doubt these issues will be resolved in time. The the developers definitely plan to work on it for a long time.
