The Paralympic Torch Relay passes through the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone

The fire will be divided in France and moved across the country.

In preparation for the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, the torch was transferred from the UK to France via the Channel Tunnel.

On Sunday, the torch relay saw 24 British runners walk through the tunnel from Folkestone, joined by 24 French runners walking halfway across the route to hand over the flame.

Once it reaches the coast of Calais, France, the fire will split into 12 separate flames and travel across France.

Helene Raynsford of Guildford Rowing Club, along with Gregor Ewan, lit the Paralympic flame.

Ms Raynsford was the first Paralympic champion in Para rowing when the sport debuted in Beijing in 2008, while Mr Ewan is a three-time Paralympian in wheelchair curling.

Among other locations, the flame will travel to Lyon, which will host 11 football matches during the Games, and Lorient, home of two-time Paralympic sailing gold medallist Damien Seguin.

The Paris flame will be lit when all 12 flames return to the city on August 28, followed by 11 days of competition.

The torch relay will end at the cauldron in Paris, just like the Olympics.

The game The Games run until September 8, with more than 4,000 athletes from around the world competing in 549 medal events across 22 sports.

In 1948, Sir Ludwig Guttmann organised the Stoke Mandeville Games, a competition for wheelchair athletes, held on the same day as the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London.
