The new Smart #1 Brabus is a 422bhp all-electric family SUV


Earlier this year, we saw the debut of Smart number 1and now there is a performance-oriented version of Brabus. Smart (jointly owned by Daimler and Geely) and Mercedes-tuner Brabus has had a long relationship that will last until Smart’s rebirth as a fully electric brand.

This is not the first time Brabus has worked on an all-electric vehicle with Mercedes EQS Get performance and aesthetic tweaks from the tuner. The regulator also revealed Brabus 92R last year – a sportier version of the all-electric car Smart EQ fortwo.

Now Brabus has turned his attention to number 1 Small SUVimproves performance and adds exclusivity and driver-focused appeal.

Based on the Geely SEA platform, the #1 Brabus has a pair of engines – one on each axle – that deliver all-wheel drive and a total output of 422hp and 543Nm of torque in 0-62mph time. 3.9 seconds. Styling modifications include a deeper, more aggressive front bumper and narrow cooling vents on the bonnet. The Brabus model features 19-inch alloys and red styling elements that contrast the vehicle’s matte gray bodywork.

There’s plenty of leather and microfiber on the inside to add a rough feel, along with red details for the stitching, headrests and LED lighting, along with a three-spoke Brabus steering wheel. It retains the 10-inch digital dashboard and 12.8-inch infotainment of the regular model.

While there’s no word yet on chassis modifications (Smart claims a 50:50 weight distribution), there are Eco, Comfort, Sport and Brabus driving mode choices. It will also have a special enhanced soundtrack.

The hottest Smart #1 in the series retains the regular car’s 66kWh battery for a claimed range of 500 km (310 miles) during the China test cycle, but due to the increased performance of the Brabus version, the range vi is claimed to drop below standard # 1 of 273 miles in the European Union WLTP test. Recharge capacity remains at 150kW, so a 10-80% recharge takes less than 30 minutes.

Revealed at the Chengdu Motor Show in China, there’s no word on UK pricing yet, but Auto Express understands that Brabus will come to the UK after launching the regular #1 later this year. .
