The new Rolls-Royce Specter 2023 will be the brand’s first electric car

Our spy photographers spotted it Rolls royce car Specter addresses the later stages of its development program. The coupe will go on sale in 2023 as the first luxury brand tramcomparable to those Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS.

Although the Specter prototype in this latest series of spy shots is still well camouflaged, it does reveal a few details about the vehicle’s design. For starters, it’s highly rated for a coupe, which suggests it’s equipped with an adjustable air suspension that’s designed to help the car glide over rough roads, unlike any other. Like its rivals, the Specter will be set up primarily for comfort.

These spies also give us our first look at the Specter’s rear end, which appears to follow the same design conventions as Rolls royce carpetrol coupe, the the spectre – it is likely that the company is not alienating its existing customer base. The rear window has a similar rake, and the taillights have a similar design and placement, at the top of the rear wing.

It’s the same story up front. Similarities with the spectre are still obvious, albeit with some minor differences, such as the new (and slightly shallower) grille and the position of the headlights slightly lower on the face of the vehicle. There’s a redesigned door handle in column A, allowing for the brand’s trademark suicide doors.

Although still in development, Rolls-Royce has demonstrated the importance of the new Specter. The company’s chief executive officer, Torsten Muller-Otvos, previously called the start of the car’s public test program “the most important day in the history of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars since the 4th of May. 5 years 1904” – the date the company was founded.

It looks like Rolls-Royce is about to drop an internal combustion engine coupe from its lineup. The brand has confirmed that the Wraith will be discontinued in the United States in 2021 – and the Specter’s introduction in 2023 suggests that it will act as an all-electric replacement for the vehicle.

Rolls-Royce has also committed to becoming an all-electric brand by 2030, so there is little time left for the company’s engineers to develop and bring to market an alternative to the combustion engine. in for Wraith. With such a tight time, they probably won’t mind.

The company has confirmed that the Specter will use the Architecture of Luxury aluminum spaceframe platform and the system is capable of integrating a battery-electric powertrain. However, it has stopped disclosing key technical details.

“Without any shared platform strategy, we were able to integrate the electric powertrain plans into the original design of the architecture,” said Muller-Otvis. However, while the foundation is Rolls-Royce’s own, it is still possible to integrate BMW car-Electric motor designed.

“We embark on this bold new future with a huge advantage,” continued the Rolls-Royce boss. “The electric powertrain is unique and perfectly suited to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, more than any other car brand. It’s silent, fine-tuned, and produces torque almost instantaneously, continuing to generate tremendous power. This is what we at Rolls-Royce call ‘changeability.’

Rolls-Royce has tested full electrification in its own cars before; over a decade ago, the company launched an all-electric concept called the 102EX in Geneva Motor Show. It is said to have shown the car at a number of private clinics with regular customers, but Rolls has always insisted that the car was never intended for production.

Five years ago, Rolls unveiled the 103EX, an all-electric model designed to showcase future trends in styling, autonomous technology and luxurious materials. That car also traveled the globe, but back to Rolls Good wood based on 2019.

Going back to the present, Rolls-Royce said the name “Spectre” was chosen with the idea of a zero-emission car vehicle. “Ghost is a name given to otherworldly beings synonymous with great power and apparitions; creatures of an alternate world can sense their presence through fleeting expression,” the brand explains.

The company continued: “The name fits perfectly with the extraordinary Rolls-Royce we are unveiling today – a motor car that makes its presence obvious before the disappeared into a world accessible to all but a few. As a quintessentially British brand, we’ve chosen the British spelling, however the meaning is universal. ”

While the brand has confirmed that the Specter will arrive in 2023, it has yet to say when the full reveal of the car will take place.
