They are stoic. They are so mysterious. They are gentle on their feet. They’re as smart as a whip, and sometimes, they’re cute and very cute.
But some cats are a better one than the rest. Some of our feline friends are known for more than just stomping on keyboards and claw marks on furniture.
Several cats hold world records. Sure, some of them do nothing but look nasty to get them, but they’ll get the title anyway.
In honor of International Cat Day, let’s take a look at the cats who have done it in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The most likes for a cat on Facebook
Grumpy Cat, also known as Tardar Sauce, is the most popular cat on Facebook, with 8,759,819 likes as of May 3, 2017. The cat went viral in 2012 after a photo and video hit online.
Before her death at the age of 7 in May 2019, she lived with her owner, Tabatha Bundesen, in Morristown, Arizona. She made several television appearances, including a 2013 documentary called “Lil Bub & Friendz”, and in 2014 she had a TV series of her own called “Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas” Ever”, Theo Guinness World Records.
When she died, she “passed away peacefully” in her mother’s arms, according to a social media post by her owner.
Most Instagram followers for a cat
Next is Nala, a cat that as of May 13, 2020 has the most followers on Instagram. Nala’s account, @nala_cathas 4.5 million followers as of International Cat Day 2022.
The siamese/loaf mix was adopted from a shelter by her owner, Varisiri Methachittiphan. She usually wears cute hats and likes to curl up in cardboard boxes, according to Guinness World Records website.
Most viewed cat videos on YouTube
And then “A Very Angry Cat”, uploaded to YouTube on October 6, 2006 and viewed 88,810,910 times as of October 18, 2016, making it the most view YouTube video featuring a cat (composite videos not included).
In the video, a cat screams and hisses at the camera with its ears pushed backwards on its head. We hope this kitten’s mood has improved since then!
Most subscribers for an animated animal on YouTube
There is also the record for most subscribed cartoon animals on YouTube, broken by Simon’s cat. As of August 8, 2022, the cat has 5.8 million subscribers.
He first appeared in an online video titled “Cat Man Do” – an animation created by British artist Simon Tofield, according to online profile.
Simon’s Cat is the second most subscribed animal channel on YouTube after National Geographic.

Followed by two cat brothers who have lived a total of 44 years since March 1, 2022.
Pika and Zippo were born in the United Kingdom on March 1, 2000. The twins are Caucasian and Caucasian who have lived with the Teece family all their lives.
The longest-lived Janus cat ever
Ending our list is the longest surviving Janus cat named Frank and Louie. The Massachusetts cat has two faces.
He was adopted by his owner, Marty, on September 8, 1999 when he was a day old, born very early that morning, according to online profile.
