The new generation BMW X3 M is expected to become an all-electric vehicle. BMW Blog says the performance-focused version of the X3 will likely ditch the current inline-six internal combustion engine in favor of an all-electric powertrain. It also claims that the upcoming EV will be more powerful than the current ICE-powered X3 M. However, the automaker has yet to confirm anything about the launch of this model nor the timeframe. The report claims that the new BMW X3 M will launch in 2026 or 2027. This makes sense, as the updated version of the standard X3 is expected to launch around 2025.

The report goes on to claim that the new generation M performance version of the X3 will come with a rebranded appearance as iX3 M. This speculation comes at a time when the automaker has already begun testing prototypes of the new-generation SUV. The car is internally codenamed G45, underpinned by the CLAR platform. The production model, however, could be based on the automaker’s Neue Klasse architecture, which is specifically designed for electric vehicles and is expected to launch sometime in the middle of this decade with an EV version of the car.
