Despite the widespread market situation and the transport strike that began on the second day of the exhibition in Berlin, the Munich Fabric Start retains its position as an important meeting point for those in the fashion industry and denim.

A positive and busy mood pervaded the show and a festive atmosphere enlivened the crowded party held at the end of the first day of the show, which took place at the exclusive Motorworld venue nearby.

The extensive program of talks and seminars on hot topics in the industry also attracted a large presence of visitors and exhibitors, drawing constant attention from insiders on topics such as major fashion trends, sustainability, circularity, transparency, digital and virtual fashion, among others.

“The sideshow with over 50 top speakers is bigger than ever. Interest in new developments, especially in terms of digitization and sustainability, is high. Our innovation hub, The Keyhouse as well as the new Assyst experience, just to name two, reflect that. The market is going through a massive transformation. We as a trade show are here to actively support this and bring the right people together. We don’t know what the future will bring. What’s even more important to us as a trade show is to deliver safety, stability, and a show of strength. This is exactly what we are doing,” continued Klinders.

Among the most important trends and innovations in sportswear and denim fabrics presented in the show for 2024, such as the strong return of studded denim, pearls and studs. pearls, crystals and other decorations and shine elements as presented by Strom Denim, Isko, Isko Luxury By PG.

Cotton regeneration is a must
For many market players, regenerated cotton and other natural fibers are becoming the new must-have fiber as they are an affordable alternative to organic cotton, they are available at lower prices and in bulk. relatively higher availability.

Among some of the latest developments, Evlox has introduced a range of jeans made with Regen, a Spanish Made denim fabric using Regenagri certified renewable cotton.

Tejdos Royo has also introduced the use of geolocated GMO-free cotton. The company, together with its partner Tailorlux, can disclose information via blockchain about the cotton it uses for fabrics ranging from seed to finished fabric.

Orta also presents a selection of fabrics made with 100% Gen-R, renewable cotton.

Circular makes its way
Cyclicity continues to play an important role in the development of new solutions for the industry, as discussed in the roundtable provided by Isko and organized by Textilwirtschaft in partnership with the program.

Officina39 has developed Smart Black, an innovation that revolutionizes the bleaching process of black-dyed clothing, allowing bright colors to be obtained from black textiles without the use of caustic soda. Moreover, its application involves only one step up to 30 minutes instead of the traditional three-step process, which results in significant energy savings.

Rudolf Hub 1922 has developed new chemical agents that can replace the traditional stone washing process. The company has launched Rucolate DWS, a high-performance denim abrasive that contains Bioscrape, a bio-abrasive made entirely from natural waste and completely sand-free.

Evlox introduced DryStone, a selection of denim fabrics that look like rock-washed denim, even though it doesn’t require washing.

Le Faxx Jeans introduced Knotwashed, a new washing technique that, instead of pumice, uses special knots made of recycled plastic fibers. Under this method, manufacturers can save water up to 50% and reduce chemical waste because the knots do not release any harmful microplastics.
