If you consider yourself the last one Zelda If you’re a fan, regardless of the quality of the product, you should probably count the 80s cartoon The Legend of Zelda in your collection. Wait, you don’t own it? Luckily, DIC Entertainment’s 13-episode series is being re-released on DVD later this year.
Pre-order for The Legend of Zelda – The Complete Series was released directly on Amazon over the weekend (via @VideoArtGame) — honestly we’re not sure why we missed it — and the re-release is coming out on October 22, 2024. That should give you plenty of time to finish Echoes of Wisdom so is it true?
If you’ve never heard of the Zelda cartoon before, the show aired from September to December 1989 and was based on two NES titles, The Legend of Zelda And Zelda II: Link’s AdventureEach episode is 15 minutes long and follows Zelda and Link as they attempt to stop Ganon and his minions from obtaining the Triforce of Wisdom.
The show aired as part of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! series; while Mario appeared four days a week, Zelda would appear on Fridays of the following work week.
The Legend of Zelda animation is… definitely unique (just check out the compilation video above) but the animation is pretty cool for its time. It’s funny, Link doesn’t attack enemies directly with his sword, instead using some kind of sword beam to hit enemies. And the animation even explains why Link can fit so many items in his bag.
The show was canceled after 13 episodes because it was deemed unsuccessful, but hey, it’s still around and you can grab a copy. all 13 episodes on Amazon.
Last year, The Legend of Zelda writers Bob and Eve Forward revealed that They recruited family members to help come up with ideas and write episodes.. But the future of Zelda on screen is looking much brighter now, as we’re getting Legend of Zelda movie at some point in the future.
