The latest Terra Nil trailer offers a haven of peace and quiet
Land of Nil is a terraforming simulation in which you land on a barren wasteland, build machinery to restore it to a lush, green wilderness, then pack up your toys and leave. It’s one of the games I’m most looking forward to in 2023, and its latest trailer only reinforces that. It’s three minutes long, has no music, and simply lets you revel in the “satisfaction of reclamation.”
This is:
“Terra Nil is truly a meditative experience with soothing sights and sounds as you reclaim the wasteland,” the YouTube video description says. “This trailer turns off (great music) and shows off the soothing feel of Terra Nil’s gameplay in its purest form.”
Anyway, I almost always turn off the music when playing games, so for me this is a more accurate playing example than most trailers provide. It would only be more accurate if it had a new Paramore album or an episode of Shedunnit play on top of it.
Terra Nil demo is now available available to play on Steam, if you can’t wait whenever it arrives this year. I’m avoiding it, partly because I’ve played it already prototype is still available on Itch. The art has changed, but it has been beautiful and satisfying in its reduced pixel art form.
Liam recently selected Terra Nil as one of the most anticipated indie games in our new collection. Podcast Indiescoveryif you haven’t heard that yet.
