Sunday night’s new episode of The Last of Us is memorable for a number of reasons, one of which is its use of the song “Long Long Time” by Linda Ronstadt, which is also the name of the episode. The song, which was first released in 1970, saw a sharp increase in Spotify streams on Sunday night.
According to Spotify, the song gained more than 4,900% streams in the US on January 29, from 11 p.m. to midnight ET, after the episode aired. An increase from last week. However, Spotify hasn’t announced exactly how many streams of the song last week or this week during the growth period. In any case, people clearly watched The Last of Us and then heard the song, unlike how Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” saw an explosion in popularity. after being introduced in the latest installment of Stranger Things.
