In a very bold move, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will block handsets and disconnect mobile numbers used for fraudulent activities. These devices and phone numbers are being used to scam mobile users through text messages. The telecom ministry is using the Chakshu portal launched this year to detect such telecom fraudsters. The new report provided detailed information on how the portal is performing and progress.
Department of Telecommunications (DoT) block numbers are used for fraud
According to PTI report, DoT has blacklisted 52 entities sending phishing messages on mobile devices. The portal also blocked over 348 mobile handsets and flagged 10,834 suspected mobile numbers for re-verification, of which 8,272 mobile connections were disconnected. The same goes for DoT answered sent to a user If you observe any such incidents, please report suspected fraud immediately to Chakshu.”

How to file complaint about mobile number on Chakshu portal
- First, visit the Sanchar Saathi website,https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/sfc/
- Locate “Citizen-centric services” and tap on “Chakshu – Report suspected fraudulent communications”.
- Now go ahead and enter your mobile number or email address for verification.
- Enter the OTP received on your phone number or email address.
- Now, you will have to choose the type of communication, such as call, SMS or WhatsApp.
- Enter the number, date, and time of the sender or caller along with a description of the event.
- You can also add a screenshot of the message or call.
- After adding all the details, just hit the “Send” button.
Taking some of these steps can help you and others fall prey to online and mobile scams. Ensure immediate action so that the government can act quickly to track the scammers.
