C2 Racing Stable and La Milagrosa Stable’s White Abarrio (Race Day), Saturday’s GIII Holy Bull S. winner, is likely to start next in GIII April 4 Curlin Florida Derby, trained Saffie Joseph, Jr. confirmed on Sunday morning.

“We talked at dinner [Saturday] night, and I’d say it didn’t work out, but he’s going straight to the Florida Derby,” Joseph said. “We don’t have to decide now, but everyone is on the same page to go straight to the Florida Derby. Distance works well. He runs very well and hopefully, it will get him [GI] Kentucky Derby to run their best. ”

A two-time Gulfstream winner last fall, White Abarrio had his first game since finishing third at GII Kentucky Jockey Club S. last November.

“I’m glad he won as easily as you can ask a horse to win a race, and it was the most in-depth preparation to date. Joseph said. “We had a bit of a defeat in the race. We missed a few pieces. You would think he should improve on that. He got 97 Beyer [Speed Figure]. Just to think he can improve on that – it’s a good feeling. ”

White Abarrio was purchased privately by brothers Mark and Clint Cornett after an eye-catching 6 3/4 length debut win with 6 1/2 stints at Gulfstream on September 24.

“Mark Cornett called and said he had bought a horse. I said, ‘Well, did you buy that horse? He was very impressed,'” Joseph recalls. “He said, ‘I’ve bought him and checked him out, just come pick him up when it’s all settled.’ He didn’t tell me he was going to buy him.”

Joseph continued, “He was a muscular horse. He is very gentle on his feet. He is a beautifully moving horse. It continues to race day, which is the main test. He controls very professionally – calm, calm. He might care a little in the morning. When he’s galloping, he can get a little excited in the morning, but when you’re working with him, he’ll relax. That’s a good attribute to have – having speed but ranking ability. ”

Tami Bobo’s Simplification (Not this time). won on January 1 Mucho Macho Man S.

“In the front or the back, he is a good horse,” said Sano. “The winning horse is the outstanding horse. If my horse fails well, the race may be different. The good news after the race is that he is a good horse, either in front or from behind. ”
