In this series, we’ll take a look at beginners entering the age-restricted junior races during the week’s main live show at Meydan Racecourse, with a special focus on into pedigree and/or performance in sales circles, both domestic and foreign. Except for Thursday, December 1, Super Saturday, March 4 and Dubai World Cup night on March 25, the main meeting in Meydan takes place on Fridays. Six meetings will be held at the UAE’s premier racecourse before the start of the Dubai World Cup Carnival on Friday, January 6, 2023. Nine Carnival cards are programmed from January to March. Here’s a look at the entries this Friday:

The final meet-up before the Carnival at Meydan ended with the fascinating event of these 14 runners, nine of whom are making their first trip to the races.

Much of the focus is likely to fall on SHARE (c, 2, gunman—Sacre Coeur, by Saint Ballado), one of three in the race for coach Fawzi Nass. Bred by Runnymede Farm & Catesby Clay, the April 2 pony is a half-brother of the Eclipse Award and a 5-time Class I champion on the fields of Lady Eli (Divine Park) and Bizzy Caroline (Afleet) Alex), also a two-time Class III winner on the field. Eddie Woods’ Quarter Pole Enterprises paid $250,000 for the foal at last year’s Keeneland September sale before it blossomed into a $600,000 OBS foal in March (:21 3/5). Pat Cosgrave goes from gate one.

Jassar (Error)one of two participants from the Doug Watson stables, has the pedigree for success in these neighborhoods, because he ‘TDN’s Rising Star’ Polar River’s half-brother (Congratulations) won the UAE’s 1000 Guineas and G3 UAE Oaks before finishing second in the G2 UAE Derby in 2016. The Bay is also a relative of Down On Da Bayou (Super Saver) , who won the UAE Oaks two seasons ago. Jassar was a $160,000 KEESEP graduate last fall and was acquired for $300,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale before being sold for $200,000 at the 2-year-old Auction in the Midlantic this past May (: 10 3/5).

by Charles Fipke girl’s bee (Bee shirt), half brother to MSP Spikes Shirl (Sightstown), not a sister to GI Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Perfect Shirl spoilers (Ire}), who has ‘TDN’s Rising Star’ son Shirl’s Speight (Sightstown) won this year’s GI Maker Mark Mile and was a recent runner-up in the GI Breeders’ Cup Mile. Armavir (Runhappy), who cost $62,000 at KEESEP, is a half-sister to SW & GSP Abby’s Angel (Touch Gold), the dam of the United Arab Emirates Group 3 winner and runner 1st place sprint Group 1 Comicas (Distorted Humor).
