Zaya Wade just experienced a pivotal moment in high school: winter officially. And dad, Dwyane Wadeand stepmother, Gabrielle Union, make the send-off a family affair that is supported by the public.
In a joint Instagram post, the couple wrote:
“Officially winter. Supporting each other in life’s big moments is important. All the stress, all the anxiety, all the fear…with our loved ones by our side, no matter the challenge, we all go down to 10 toes. Always.”

The dress was a shimmering, floor-length, flowing ivory gown with removable ruffle sleeves. The front of the dress is decorated with a large white rose, and she wears a small necklace, without a pendant. Zaya stands out with dark heels and a silk press with her curls Alexander Armand. In addition, she wears natural, seductive makeup with glossy lips thanks to the makeup style artist Malika and a matching dark mani-pedi.

Notably absent from the photos is Zaya’s biological mother, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, who has spoken out about her disapproval of Dwyane’s parenting style. As previously reported, Dwyane filed in August to legal change Zaya’s name and gender. At the age of 12, according to Wade, Zaya requested that Zion’s name be dropped.
In November, Wade doubled down on his petition for legal changes. He details his wish for Zaya to live as she really is.
Court documents say:
“The court order confirming her identity will allow Zaya to live more comfortably and honestly in all aspects of her life—from simple referrals and food orders to applying for a driver’s license and filing college application.”
“This petition is intended to enable Zaya to pass the milestones of a youth with confidence and joy.”
Dwyane’s record in November comes after Siohvaughn denounce ex-lover about being “positioned to profit” through the marketing opportunities of changing Zaya’s name and gender. She also accused Wade of pressuring Zaya to ask for a legal name and gender change.
