A short trailer for the next horror game in Supermassive’s Collection of dark paintings The series has appeared on YouTube. Called Directive 8020, it looks like the directive is purely sci-fi and space-oriented, Event Horizon-style. Supermassive will likely follow up with an official trailer once The Devil In Me comes out. You can check out the leaked trailer below, if you’re unafraid of the possibility of spoilers.
We’ve known about Directive 8020 for a few months, as details about the second season of The Dark Pictures Anthology have been revealed. disclosure by trademark filings back in February. Four other upcoming titles were shown on the filing: The Craven Man, Intercession, Winterfold, and the unusual-sounding Presents O Death. The first installment of The Dark Pictures only had four games, so the final installment could be different from what we’re used to seeing in the anthology series.
Rebecca had a chance to go practice with The Dark Pictures coming out The Devil In Me just before Halloween, and thinks it could turn out to be the best part. This is a different kind of game from the first three, because there are no supernatural phenomena occurring. Directive 8020 sounds like it’s going straight to the sci-fi horror genre on a spaceship, continuing the break with the supernatural The Devil In Me has already begun. It will end up feeling like a live video on another horror game such as Dead Space or Alien: Isolation? In fact, that sounds pretty interesting.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me Climbs Steam tomorrow, November 18. There’s no release date for Directive 8020 yet, but I’ll update you as more announcements become available.
