The company that turned the Ram 1500 into a luxury sedan is now planning electric Mini Restomods

Italian car customization Aznom previously launched Palladium based on Ram 1500 luxury sedan, but now it’s trying something a little greener.

The company unveiled an electric mini restomod called the Mini E-Classic at the 2022 Top Marques Monaco show this past weekend. The first customer example will launch at Aznom’s stores this summer, with “full production” expected to begin in September, Aznom said in a press release, Aznom said.

The switch includes a 14 kwh battery pack that Aznom says will provide up to 87 miles of range. For reference, modern Mini Cooper SE 110-mile range from the 32.6 kwh package. Three driving modes — Eco, Normal and Sport — are available. LED lighting and an upgraded interior with digital equipment and leather seats are also part of the package.

In addition to this hardtop, Aznom says it is planning a second version dubbed the Cote d’Azur with what the company describes as an “open English” roof. That sounds like the big fabric sunroofs fitted to some vintage Minis, not to a golf tournament.

Aznom says its power adapter is compatible with Mini models from 1982 onwards, but also says the hardware will be adapted for other classic cars in the future.

Aznom isn’t the only company offering classic Minis power conversions. Swindon Powertrain announced its own power adapter in 2020, and Mini itself announced a transition program earlier this year, to handle at the Mini factory in the United Kingdom. Mini also plan to go all-electric around the end of the decade, with plans to launch its last internal combustion engine vehicle in 2025.
