‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Review: Bounty Hunters Immerse In ‘Star Wars’ Nostalgia on Disney+ (SPOILERS)

Though presumed dead in “The Return of the Jedi,” the armor-clad bounty hunter escaped that fate, history tells in a flashback sequence that opens the episode. Indeed, executive producers Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Robert Rodriguez seem to have happily reached into their pockets for “Star Wars” and unearthed as many references as they could in 40 minutes or so. longer, catering to fans’ appetites in a way they did by incorporating characters into “The Mandalorian.”

Those scenes recreate what Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) must endure after defeat and loss of armor, before jumping into the present, where he and fellow murderous Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) have taken control. control the criminal empire once headed by Jabba the Hutt.

Boba Fett told her: “Jabba rules with fear. “I intend to rule with respect.”

Respect is still found in Tatooine’s wildness, but the duo are almost immediately facing an assassination attempt, so resting on his laurels and throne doesn’t seem likely. contained in the cards.

Like “The Mandalorian,” “Boba Fett” approximates the textures of an Old West, though as built, its roots tap into even more “Star Wars” lore. more direct. As a bonus for sci-fi and fantasy lovers, in addition to the familiar creatures discovered, the premiere features what looks like an homage to the special effects wizard. Ray Harryhausen, with a knowing nod about how Jabba met his end as cherry on top.

Honestly, the premiere doesn’t have much of a clue as to where the overall story is headed, but given the ample amount of action and “Star Wars” nostalgia, it doesn’t really need to be either. .

More than anything, “The Book of Boba Fett” conveys the impression that a group of “Star Wars” weaners are given the opportunity to adapt essentially playing with the action figure as children into a series. actual story. For anyone with a similar connection to these stories, the temptation is almost irresistible to dive right in with them, until you can almost feel the Tatooine sand between your toes. mine.

“The Book of Boba Fett” is streaming on Disney+.
