The best dragon age companions across all games
With three main RPGs and counting, it’s finally time to review them all Dragon Age titles and identify the best companions. I decided to break it down by game and give my thoughts on the best companion for each title. There are some great BioWare characters throughout each game, but these are the best Dragon Age literary, romantic, etc. companion across all three titles.
The best Dragon Age: Origins Companion: Morrigan
It is very difficult to choose the best companion from the beginning Dragon Age title. After all, this is arguably the best group of characters in the series to date. But if I had to choose one member of the group, I would choose Morrigan. This infamous wizard has a deep story and the most engaging writing of anyone in this first game.
Without revealing too much, her story goes in wild directions no matter which path you take. Furthermore, her personality is very passionate. She is definitely a prime example of “less is more”. If you prefer a more unapproachable style of character, Morrigan is one of the best companions to go with.
The best Dragon Age 2 Party member: Varric
If I had to pick a single character as the best companion in all of this fantasy BioWare series, it would be Varric. He appeared at Dragon Age 2 and also took on his role as a team member for the next few games. There’s a reason BioWare keeps bringing back Varric over many other members of the team.
This intelligent dwarf is one of the funniest characters in all of video games. He consistently delivers memorable quips and brings some much-needed fun to this rather serious fantasy world. Varric is as synonymous with this RPG genre as someone like Garrus in Mass effect.
The best Dragon Age: Investigation Companion: Dorian
I don’t want to repeat Varric from the third main game in the series, so the best companion for this title has to be Dorian. Like Varric, Dorian is quite humorous and one of the most charming characters in the series to date. But the best thing about Dorian is that he embodied the idea of not judging a book by its cover.
If you take the time to get to know Dorian closely, his backstory is incredibly heartbreaking. His outer shell denies the emotional legend he has. Dorian has a story so complicated that there’s almost no one else in it Dragon Age: Investigation can be compared to whether you are romantic with him or not.
Dragon Age: Guardian will release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and computer on October 31, 2024.
