The Bachelor’s Matt Agnew blasts Manly NRL players for refusing to wear gay pride jerseys


Matt Agnew has endured the storm on the Manly Sea Eagles gay pride jersey.

Seven players said wearing rainbow-striped jerseys against St.George on Thursday would go against their ‘religious beliefs’.

And now, the 34-year-old bachelor star and astrophysicist has shared an Instagram story that appears to defame the players involved as hypocrites.

Matt points out in the post that two of the world’s major religions – Christianity and Islam – condemn gambling.

Meanwhile, Manly’s controversial jersey displays the name of one of the main sponsors of the Sea Eagles, online gambling service Pointsbet.

Using a photo of the proud gay jumper in the post, Matt said in his story, ‘I’m curious the holy book of the two biggest religions (both globally and across Australia) say anything about gambling.’

He then went on to quote from the Christian Bible, which says: ‘For the love of money is the root of all evil.’

Matt’s comments come after other celebrities criticized the Manly NRL player group for refusing to wear the rainbow jersey.
