It seems that the door opening is more than just a crack when it comes to whether or not the superstar of car racing Flight route (Tapit) will race next year when a child is 5 years old. Appears as Green group Guest of the Week on the Pure Writers Daily News podcast presented by KeenelandKosta Hronis, a co-owner of Flightline, said there is a “big chance” that Flightline will race in 2023 instead of starting her horse career.
“Just like with Stellar Wind (Curlin), which we left on the track for another year, just like with Urge (Look at luck), which worked out well after we decided to bring him back for another year, our philosophy has always been that they were born to be racehorses,” said Hronis, referring to the two former star who ran for Hronis Racing LLC. “Let them do what they want as long as they want to do it. I can’t really give you a percentage when it comes to his performance next year. You have to ask Flight Route. But I really believe that as long as he’s healthy and happy with what he’s doing and he still wants to go to the racetrack every day and be a part of this and he still wants to run the way he did. running, then I think there’s a big chance we’ll see him next year when he’s 5 years old. “
Hronis added: “We’re going to the Breeders’ Cup, we’re going to step out of the race, see how we do and just go to the next step. I race horses, that’s what I love to do. It’s Hronis Racing. When it comes to their post-race career, we don’t care much about that.”
The situation is complicated because Hronis Racing LLC is one of five entities that own a part of a horse. The others are Siena Farm LLC, Summer Wind Equine LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing, LLC. Hronis said that while he wants to see next year’s Flightline race, he will listen to the opinions of Bill Farish of Woodford Racing and Jane Lyon of Summer Wind Farm. Lyon is also the breeder of Flightline.
“For me personally, I would hold off on Bill Farish and Jane Lyon because they are absolute experts when it comes to this,” he said. “I still consider myself a new type of person. I’ve only been in this sport for 10, 11 years. As for a second career with horses, it’s not something we’re into much of. As for what goes on on the track, I turn to John Sadler. He’s the man and he makes the decisions. In his second career, I’ll hold off with Jane and Bill and let them do the shooting and I’ll follow suit. I will be a good partner.”
However, Hronis made it clear which way he was rooting.
“We will keep our fingers crossed so Flightline continues his career and continues to be as successful as he has been,” he said. “He’s good at horse racing and that’s good for every owner in the country. I believe (Flightline runs next year) could be the shot in the arm we need. So I really hope that we can continue this.”
Hronis also commended coach John Sadler and gymnast and assistant coach Juan Leyva for the work they’ve done with Flightline. After her sensational 1/4-length 19 win in the GI TVG Pacific Classic, Flightline has survived 5v5 and has never been challenged.
“John did a great job with him between the races that taught him,” he said. “He and Juan Leyva constantly taught him how to be a racehorse and taught him how to go from six to a mile and a half. I have to give them all the credit. The plan has been in place for quite some time and it has come to fruition. We have a great coach. I’ve said this a few times: Lucky we have Flightline, I think Flightline is really lucky to have John Sadler. He took his time, he didn’t push him and he taught him how to be a racehorse.”
