The Academy Museum’s Gala impressed as it paid homage to Rita Moreno, Paul Mescal and Quentin Tarantino
The Academy Museum Gala’s homage to three Hollywood icons brought the best of film and fashion to the red carpet in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Now in its fourth year, the fundraiser is co-chaired in part by Salma Hayek Pinault, Nicole Kidman, Eva LongoriaAnd Tyler Perry–has raised more than $11 million for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures to support filmmaking exhibitions and local community initiatives.
Honor Rita Moreno, Paul MescalAnd Quentin Tarantino for their contributions to the film, the gala’s highly coveted guest list included Amy Adams, Kylie Jenner and director of Netflix Ted Sarandos.
Longoria began the evening’s program, introducing the Director and President of the Academy Museum, Amy Hommawho welcomed guests and introduced the night’s first host, the three-time Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg who presented the Icon Award to the legendary EGOT Moreno.
After the dinner ceremony, Colman Domingo Return guests to their seats by introducing the next host, a four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronanwho presented the Vantage Award to his friend and recent co-star, Oscar-nominated actor Mescal.
The Shining Star Award was given to Tarentino by Pulp novels star John Travolta. In his acceptance speech, Tarantino announced the donation of his first handwritten draft of the screenplay, which won the 1995 Academy Award for best original screenplay, to the museum.
Before the night ends, Ariana Grande End the evening with a heartfelt introduction to your co-stars Cynthia Erivowho treated guests to a surprise musical performance, singing “I’m Here” from Purple“Home” by Diana Ross from witch (1978)” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz (1939), and Prince’s “Purple Rain.” After each song, Grande stood up to cheer for her co-star in the upcoming musical Wicked.
There are so many stars and notable guests, keeping anyone in their seats is a challenge. From Pamela Anderson ARRIVE Demi Moore to the cast Emilia Perez, people sat interspersed between tables to chat after a busy fall festival season. At the end of the night, guests headed downstairs to retrieve their cars and limos, excited to be part of a night celebrating cinema. The gala was held in partnership with Rolex.
