MANILA, Philippines – For Thailand’s Ajcharaporn Kongyot, the Philippine women’s volleyball team is constantly challenging themselves and honing their skills to take the show to new heights.

Kongyot helped Thailand in scanning the Philippines, 25-13, 25-10, 25-16, in their international friendly on Saturday at the San Juan Arena.

As a program player who has won the Southeast Asian Games for 13 consecutive times and played at world championships, the Thai premier said the Filipino players just need to keep doing hard work.

“Filipino players have to practice to improve (to a high degree) in every skill. Just try to take on more challenges for yourself,” said Kongyot, who played sparingly and finished with eight points.

Kongyot faced the Philippines for the second time in his career. Although they barely broke a sweat, she said her team still learned from this match and praised the home team as a good sport.

“The Filipino players have tried their best to improve themselves and they are very likable (everyone),” she said. “Good match for the Philippines because Thailand have played the Philippines many times and (that helps us) improve ourselves in volleyball and for the Philippines also to improve ourselves.”

Kongyot also thanked the Filipino fans at the venue for cheering them on as well.

“We like the Filipino fans and we know how much they really support us,” she said.

And she’s looking forward to the support of the Filipino fans during their second week at the Nationals Volleyball Championship that begins Tuesday against Canada.

“For Canada, the Thai team will try their best. From the first match to the last, we will give our best,” said Kongyot.

Thailand won three of the first four matches, succumbing to world No. 2 China in VNL week 1 in Turkey.
