In January, Tesla recalled more than two million cars, including trucks, because warning lights were difficult to read. Fast forward to April. That was when the company recalled about 4,000 Cybertrucks due to a problem with the accelerator pedal sticking. Then, in June, there was a recall for loose trim pieces and non-functioning windshield wipers.

This is why Tesla is recalling Cybertrucks AGAIN

By comparison, Tesla’s Cybertrucks went on sale publicly in November 2023. The latest voluntary recall occurred this week. IN a press release On its website, Tesla said the affected Cybertrucks were manufactured between November 13, 2023 and September 14, 2024. AP reports that more than 27,000 trucks are eligible for the recall.

Additionally, the agency and Tesla’s statement noted that the company had contacted the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding a technical glitch. The display on the affected truck remained blank after the driver shifted into reverse. The AP reports that US law requires any vehicle’s display screen to activate the rearview camera within two seconds of shifting gears. For more than 27,000 Tesla Cybertrucks, their display screen takes up to 8 seconds to appear.

In an effort to resolve the issue quickly, Tesla has released a software update to fix the problem. Rollout begins over the air (OTA) on September 19, 2024.

How can owners learn more?

According to the statement, Cybertruck owners can check to see if their VIN is affected by using Tesla’s VIN Recall Search tool or NHTSA’s VIN Recall Search tool. Additionally, according to the report, there is no need to schedule a service visit unless a software update fails. If the owner’s truck has software version 2024.32.5.2. or later, no further action is required.

Additionally, Tesla plans to send a letter to customers about this issue after November 25. The company has also opened a direct line for customers to call at 877-798-3752.

At this time, the company has not reported any accidents, injuries or deaths related to rearview camera and display malfunctions. However, the agency recommends that affected customers continue to check their vehicle’s shoulders and mirrors to back up safely.
