Teofimo Lopez says Bivol fighting style was “made” for Canelo

Via Jim Calfa: Teofimo Lopez believes that Dmitry Bivol’s fighting style (19-0, 11 KOs) is “make” for Canelo Alvarez. He feels confident the star will win on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

However, Teofimo does not completely rule out the possibility of Bivol winning, as he feels there is a great left-right combination he throws that could cause problems for Canelo if he is able to land.

Canelo is entering an unknown before Bivol because you can’t count the Mexican star’s previous experience at the age of 175 against a hill-crossing Sergey Kovalev.

That fight was weird with Kovalev, the bigger and stronger boxer, running around the ring trying to avoid Canelo. It looks almost comical, a knockout artist running from his smaller, weaker opponent Canelo.

Bivol won’t run away from Canelo, and he will provide him with more resistance than the ragtag group of 168 lb champions he beat last year.

Teo believes that Canelo CANNOT be defeated by Bivol, David Benavidez, or Artur Beterbiev. He feels that Canelo can only be defeated by himself.

Canelo uses a lot of head and upper body movement to avoid headers, but Bivol combines his shots well, hitting punches downstairs.

If Bivol were to aim for Canelo’s massive upper body, he’d find it a lot easier to connect. We’ll see if Canelo can handle being hit by a bullet as he rarely shoots down stairs.

It was an unpredictable fight because Bivol was a more complex fighter than the ones Canelo had fought recently, many of them from England.

Former unified lightweight champion Teofimo says Canelo (57-1-2, 39 KOs) will “pick” WBA light heavyweight champion Bivol was eliminated on May 7 and he doesn’t see it as a fight where the Mexican star has anything to worry about.

Bivol “makes Canelo” says Teo

“I think a lot of people are ignoring Bivol. He has a one-two nasty,” Teofimo Lopez said to Against TV Hub about the showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol next month. aleatory

“I wouldn’t say he would hook up with him, but it’s probably nothing new for him. I think it was a great fight. I saw Canelo land him and hit him.

“Bivol, from the games I’ve seen him, he’s very solid, very tight, and Canelo likes guys like that.

He can choose them. He can actually choose them. He did it with Callum Smith, even though Callum was tall. He was boxed like this to the point that Canelo went around and knocked him down.

“So it’s all about how they canned. It’s a fight for Canelo. I’m not saying it’s fixed, but it was a great fight. It favors him for his style. Many people think that all these matches are fixed, but it’s not, it’s just style,” said Teofimo.

It seems Teofimo isn’t too familiar with Bivol’s fighting style as he seems to think he fights in a similar way to Callum Smith, who is a stationary fighter shielding himself on ropes when attacked.

Bivol is not like Callum, and he is never against the ropes. Teofimo’s description of Bivol would make a bit more sense if he was used to his fighting style, but he was confused.

Lopez won’t be surprised if Bivol wins

“I wouldn’t be surprised because this guy is a bit trickya bit awkward,” Teofimo said when asked if he would be surprised if Bivol beat Canelo.

“What happens to the awkward fighters is that it throws a lot of fancy fighters from Mayweathers all the way to Canelos.

“Floyd was never good with clumsy fighters. He maintains that, but he was never good with clumsy fighters. [Marcos] Maidana is the prime example of what it means to be a clumsy fighter.

“It was a great fight. I love it, and it’s great for Canelo to have two matches scheduled and signed. As long as he beats this guy and Golovkin, it will be great.

Teofimo convinces Canelo to defeat Benavidez and Beterbiev

“Canelo,” Teofimo said when asked who could beat Canelo. “No, Canelo, I mean it,” Teo said, dismissing the idea that David Benavidez or Artur Beterbiev were the ones to beat Canelo.

“Canelo is the only one who can beat himself now. He’s at the mental level where he knows he’s an asshole, but he keeps it humble where he keeps that grit. It’s a dangerous fighter because Floyd is what he is.

“So he’s at the stage where his mindset is, and he’s wanting to do bigger and better things. With such a person, you cannot stop them. He has a plan.

“These guys are trying to be famous and rich. He has a plan to make history. It’s a big difference in mind,” Teofimo said of Canelo trying to build his legacy by collecting world titles.

Teofimo says Golovkin is “slowing down”

“We have to see that. That’s the only way we can know,” Teofimo said of whether Gennady Golovkin can beat Canelo Alvarez on September 17.

“I am not saying Murata will do anything different than Canelo will. We have to see what he looks like because Hhe seems to be slowing down“Teofimo talks about Golovkin.

“It is catching up with him. I think I saw it in his last game,” Teofimo said of Gennadiy.

IBF middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) will fight next Saturday, April 9, against WBA 160lb champion Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs).

If Golovkin loses the fight, any chance of a three-part showdown between him and Canelo is gone.

It is very difficult to know if Golovkin will beat Murata since he is 40 years old and has only fought three times in the last four years. Canelo could perhaps be less concerned if Golovkin loses the game as he will likely defend his 168-lb WBA title against his mandatory John Ryder in England.

It will be a big win for Canelo, that will pay him a lot of money.
