Tennis: Raducanu reaches Indian Wells 3rd round
INDIAN WELLS, California – Emma Raducanu knocked out 20th seed Polish Magda Linette 7-6(3) 6-2 on Saturday to reach the third round of Indian Wells and record the biggest win. since being crowned at the US Open in 2021.
The 20-year-old British fell into the first set 4-1 but bounced back from there, scoring with her forehand to push Linette deep into the court.
She sealed the victory by whipping a forehand down the line to get fans to their feet on a warm and windy day in the Southern California desert.
The win marks Raducanu’s first consecutive win since September and is a hopeful sign that she can overcome the many health issues that have plagued her lately.

“I would like to say that I feel more positive about my match today,” Raducanu told reporters.
“The first day I really didn’t know what was going on. I feel pretty good out there today, especially with the conditions. It was very windy and I did a great job getting through it.”
Next, she will face Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic or Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil.
Elsewhere, Czech Karolina Muchova scored an impressive 7-6(1) 6-3 win on her tournament debut against two-time champions Victoria Azarenka of Belarus and Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic crushing her opponent. her compatriot, 28th seed Marie Bouzkova, 6-1 6 -1.
In the south, Italian 11th seed Jannik Sinner defeated Frenchman Richard Gasquet 6-3 7-6(2), while eighth seed Felix Auger Aliassime of Canada won 7-6(5) 6 -4 against Pedro Martinez and Jack Draper of Spain won the all-English match against 24th seed Dan Evans 6-4 6-2.
