Telangana cops tow away SUV with AP CM’s sister inside, arrest her | India News

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police on Tuesday pulled away YSR Telangana Party leader and CM Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister YS Sharmilaher SUV, with her in the driver’s seat. She was later arrested along with supporters while on her way to Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao’s camp office to protest her car being attacked by TRS workers in Warangal the day before.
Police officials brought her and six of her supporters before a local judge for judicial remand. Vijayamma, Sharmila’s mother, who wanted to meet her daughter at the police station, was banned from leaving her home in Banjara Hills’ Lotus Pond.
Drama begins around 12.20pm when Sharmila leaves Lotus Pond to confront KCR. On Raj Bhavan Road, she moved from the back seat of an SUV to the driver’s seat of a damaged SUV in Warangal when police stopped her.
The police tried to convince Sharmila to open the door of the SUV but she did not respond. Instead, she gives phone interviews to TV channels while sitting in her car. She told reporters: “KCR minions attacked me and our vehicles while I was demonstrating the failure of the government. “I’m bringing damaged cars to CM. This is not how you operate in a democratic society.” Even when she arrived at the police station, Sharmila did not get out of the car. Eventually, police officials broke the lock and arrested her.
Police were caught off guard when Sharmila left the Lotus Pond house through the back exit, previously used by her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. “Only Jagan used that route. So we didn’t track there,” a police official said.
