Teenager stabbed to death and another critically ill after ‘highly worrying incident’ in east London | UK News


One teenager was stabbed to death and another was seriously ill hospitalized following a “disturbing incident”.

Scotland Yard said it found two men with stab wounds after being called to a disturbance around midnight involving a “group of adults” in Lichfield Road, Tower Hamlets, east London.

Police say a murder investigation is currently underway but no arrests have yet been made.

The teen who died is believed to be 17 years old, while the one taken to the hospital is 18 years old.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers of the Met’s Special Crimes Command said: “This is a very disturbing incident that has left one young man dead and another fighting for his life. in the hospital.

“I’m aware of reports that about a hundred people, armed with weapons, were involved. This doesn’t seem to be entirely accurate.

“We know a significant number of people were involved in this incident but were not necessarily directly involved or armed.”

The force said it has yet to arrest anyone in connection with the incident.

Father of one, Mr Brown was stabbed to death in Croydon, south London in March 2017 and died of his injuries five days later.

Ms Bogle spoke out as new figures revealed 350 murders had gone unsolved in London over the past two decades – including cases where victims were shot, stabbed, strangled and drowned.

Meanwhile, a former police officer told Sky News how a large backlog of cases in British courts – thought to be around 60,000 – could be responsible for a release people jailed for knife offenses.

Peter Fahy, former chief of police for Greater Manchester Police, said: “We need the police to act more decisively, but there is also real concern about the huge backlog of cases in court.

“It’s not good for the police to go out to arrest people if they are then released on bail and it takes years to bring people to court.”
