Seven Network has declared Sunrise as Australia’s top-rated breakfast show for 2022, even though it’s only been August.
In a press release, Seven said the morning show, hosted by David Koch and Natalie Barr, was the number one show in its time slot for the 19th year in a row.
‘Australia’s No. 1 breakfast show has won every week this year, nationally and in capital cities,’ the media release stated.

According to the OzTAM 2022 survey year, Sunrise has a nationwide average daily audience of 397,000 viewers, which Seven boasts is ‘31% larger than its nearest competitor.’
The breakfast show’s closest competitor was supposed to be the Nine’s Today Show, hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon, but earlier this year the show dropped to third on the timetable after being hit by ABC News Breakfast beat every day for a week.
“We’re proud that over 1.01 million people start with Dawn every morning across Australia and we never take it for granted,” said Morning Television’s Seven Network director Sarah Stinson. in a statement.

It comes after Channel 10’s struggling new breakfast show, 10 News First: Breakfast, failed to attract a single viewer in a major city last Wednesday.
The supposed breakfast show’s closest competitor is the Nine’s Today Show, hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon, but earlier this year the show dropped to third in the timetable after being hit by ABC News Breakfast beat every day for a week.
The 30-minute broadcast, hosted by Lachlan Kennedy and Natasha Exelby, was a huge hit when it failed to attract a single viewer in the big city of Perth.
Perth, which has a population of 2.1 million, is one of the five main major city demographics used to measure the popularity of Australian programmes.
10 News First: Breakfast has struggled to gain momentum since its debut on June 27, recently setting a new record for the worst-rated show in Australian television history.

An OzTAM spokesman told The Australian that the dire results could be attributed to the use of ‘small bottom-view samples’.
Ten dropped the first half hour of Studio 10 and replaced it with a new morning newsletter last month.
It comes after Channel 10 denied rumors that the show hosted by Sarah Harris and Tristan MacManus had been arrested.
The morning show has struggled with ratings for years, with The Australian reporting now that there are concerns online that it could soon face public scrutiny.
However, 10 spokespersons quashed the speculation, telling Daily Mail Australia the show was still profitable and was not going anywhere.

This is not the first time Channel 10 has received damage control after the breakfast TV show failed spectacularly.
The station’s last attempt at a breakfast show, Wake Up, went awry in 2014 after just six months of airing.
The show was launched in November 2013 to compete with Channel Seven’s Sunrise and Channel Nine’s Today, but failed miserably.
