Tata Motors is expected to offer an upgraded version of its flagship three-row Safari SUV soon. While no clear timeline has been shared by the automaker, Tata engine was recently spotted testing Safari under camouflage on the streets of Pune. The Safari SUV, launched early last year, is currently only available with a diesel engine option.
Tata Safari is offered for sale with prices starting from $5.45 lakh (old gallery) and increase $23.75 lakh (old gallery). It is offered in three broad variants XZ+, XZA and XZA+. Tata also offers Safari in various versions including Jet, Kaziranga, Dark, Gold and Adventure variants. It competes with things like Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus among the three-row SUVs in India.
According to the leaked photos, the upcoming Tata Safari model does not have any major changes to the exterior. The headlights, taillights and bumpers look identical to the model currently on sale. Small changes to the design aesthetic of the new Safari SUV can be expected.
While there aren’t any major changes to the exterior, the test unit did get a sneak peek at the Safari’s interior. It displays a new infotainment screen, which appears to be a floating display, among other changes.
Among other changes expected from the new generation The hunt is to strengthen the safety mechanism. Tata Motors will likely introduce the Advanced Driver Assistant System, or ADAS technology, in upcoming Tata Safari facelift models. It is also capable of providing a 360-degree camera.
Tata Motors will likely use the same 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine used under the hood of existing models. The engine is capable of producing a maximum capacity of 170 horsepower and maximum torque of 350 Nm. The engine comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
