Take charge of a bunch of space ship riders when Stranded: Alien Dawn enters early access today

Imagine you tried your best to send a spaceship to another star system, only to have it crash into a wild and uncharted world. That’s the gist of Trapped: Alien Dawn, a future survival simulation from the developers behind Surviving Mars, is in early access today. The game puts you in charge of four survivors, who will fight the basic demands of survival and face dangerous alien creatures.
Stranded: Alien Dawn revolves around base management and resource gathering from your new home planet. Your group of survivors all have different skills, such as different levels of combat experience, so you will have to rely on those skills to perform. Watch for survivors who are anorexic or fatigued, although it is helpful to build separate rooms for each person and keep them well fed and warm. Attacks will also come from the planet’s native animals, so you’ll need to fortify your base with turrets or traps. Unless you have enough survivors in your party to fend them off.
The idea of running a colony on an alien planet intrigued me, largely because it reminded me of the old TV show. Earth 2 or shiver, Raised by Wolves. Alien Dawn is a bit different from those, because if you don’t like where your survivors come from then you can restart the game to knock them down again. They will go to another place on the planet. Does that make it a reusable spacecraft?
Devs Haemimont Games is planning to keep Alien Dawn in early access for at least six months, adding to the game and tweaking it based on player feedback. James previewed Alien Dawn at Gamescom, and it felt familiar enough to need a bit more refinement. “I would really be happy if Haemimont focused early access on expanding the world,” he said. “I think there’s enough good strategic depth here, between all the survivalist needs and the tech tree.”
Stuck: Alien Dawn drastically drops early access today Steam.
