Have you ever thought that you would find love online?
Sruti: Yes, yes! I have always been shy and introverted. I have never had many friends. Interacting with people in college (the heart of finding love) is not my game. So when Tinder and its likes came along, it opened up a whole new world for me. And to be honest, chatting online is easier for me than physical interaction.
Sunny: I’m not sure. It’s all about fate. I was ready for all kinds of opportunities, so I found Sruti. You can find love everywhere, every corner!
How is online dating different from finding love around you?
Sruti: I’m a natural procrastinator! And with my demanding work life in an advertising agency, sometimes it’s not even possible to make time for myself! So I never have time to meet friends and socialize with people. But with the online dating scene, you can access a trove of data right at your fingertips. You don’t have to travel or fix a certain time for it. Though I’ve always wanted to experience something like, ‘Before Sunrise’ Alas!
Sunny: You have an expansive horizon if you are looking for love online rather than looking for someone physically. It becomes easier to interact with people, especially in the modern era.
What are some things you don’t like about online dating?
Sruti: In rare cases you come across unscrupulous people or fake profiles. Sometimes it becomes difficult to verify a person online. But people can rely on their gut instincts to help them determine what is right.
Sunny: I met a lot of fake profiles and scammers. I think this is a serious problem with online dating. This has prevented many people from wanting to find love on a dating app.
Are you showing your perfect side when dating online or via text? Or are you your true self?
Sruti: It’s a mix! Who doesn’t want to impress their date? Everybody. But I’m always the closest to my true self, I’m crazy! I’ve always wanted my daters to like me for who I am rather than a predictable person.
Sunny: I can’t maintain a dual personality within me. I’ve always been myself around people, and that’s essential when you’re looking for someone to find love.
Can you tell us what your dating profile is?
Sruti: My bios always depends on my mood! The last bio that includes me says that I have a dog and that I am a plant parent.
Sunny: My biography is very simple and it just tells me briefly about me and the town I live in. I am a very simple person unlike Sruti!
Is connecting via online dating apps as fun as meeting someone in real space?
Sruti: Of course yes! Not only do you limit yourself to instant messages and messages, but also meet physically. And I think both weigh the same and both give you butterflies in your stomach!
Sunny: Yes, I also think that both are equally interesting and not much of a difference. It’s just different platforms. Like I said before, you can find love anywhere.
What drew you to your online partner?
Sruti: His simplicity and innocence. I am still in awe of how childish and youthful a person’s soul can be! Sometimes he completely felt like a dream.
Sunny: Her expressive eyes! I was glued to her eyes the first time I saw her! That’s what drew me to her.
Have you come across any fake profiles or fake identities online? Any tips to tell if a person is real or fake?
Sruti: Yes, I’ve come across a few fake profiles. In such situations, you just have to follow your instincts, nothing else, because that’s what you should rely on.
Sunny: Yes, there are a lot of fake profiles on dating apps. I believe, running a background check by looking up the person on Facebook, Instagram etc can be a good way to check if the person is real or not. I also believe that a genuine person will definitely be on social media. Only creeps avoid social media exposure!
Was it love at first sight when you two met or did you take the time to get to know your partner?
Sruti: I’m very realistic and a bit skeptical. For me it’s love at second or third sight. But I was appreciated by his cuteness as soon as I met him!
Sunny: Yes, that’s lightning love for me! I know she is the one! It didn’t take us long to get to know each other because we were deeply in love.
Do you feel that seizing an opportunity or a ‘leap of faith’ is crucial to getting to where you are now?
Sruti: That’s right. I took that leap of faith and guess what I landed in my dream world? Sunny, he makes me so happy and loved. Only when you seize the opportunity can you get somewhere.
Sunny: Life is all about taking chances and
shaadi is like Dilli ka laddoo! Khaoge toh pachtaoge, nahi khaoge toh tabbhi pachtaoge! (Marriage is like Delhi’s Ladoo! Eat it, regret it, don’t eat it!)
