Suspect in Salman Rushdie attack charged with attempted second degree murder | US News
The suspect in the stabbing attack of Sir Salman Rushdie has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, US officials said.
Police have identified the alleged attacker as Hadi Matar, 24, from Fairview, New Jersey.
Friday’s attack left the 75-year-old author seriously injured.
He is still on a ventilator and may lose an eyeHis agent, Andrew Wylie, said.
He also suffered a severed nerve in one arm and liver damage.

The motive for the assault is unknown, but police believe the suspect acted alone.
