Marshal of the Supreme Court “so far has not been able to determine who is responsible” because of the leak Dobbs sues Jackson decided last MayThe US Supreme Court said in a release on Thursday.
The court called the leak “one of the worst breaches of trust in its history.”
The court said: “The leak was not just a false protest attempt. “It’s a serious attack on the judicial process.”
It said the leak prompted the court to open a thorough investigation, conducted by the Marshal of the Supreme Court and her staff.
“After months of careful analysis of forensic evidence and interviews with nearly 100 employees, Marshal’s team determined that no further investigation was needed for many of the ’82 employees. [who] had access to electronic or hard copies of the draft opinion,'” the court said. “However, upon tracking all available clues, the Marshal’s team did performing additional forensic analysis and conducting follow-up interviews with some of the employees.”
The court consulted former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff “to evaluate the Marshal’s investigation”, which he called “thorough”.
The marshal reported that “investigators continue to review and process some of the electronic data that has been collected and a number of other requests are still pending,” the court said. “To the extent additional investigations yield new evidence or clues, investigators will pursue them.”
