Supreme Court rejects plea seeking disclosure of details from 2018 Collegium meeting | India News

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court rejected a request to disclose details of the Collegium meeting held on December 12, 2018.
Plaintiff sought the details under the Right to Information Act.
The Court found that the Collegium was a multi-member body, whose tentative decision could not be made public.
“These discussions are not of the nature of the final decision of the multi-member body leading to the adoption of the resolution,” it added.
Judges MR Shah & CT Ravikumar said the petition was based on the opinion of a former Collegium member (Judge Madan B Lokur) on the alleged decision to elevate the two HC chief justices. SC said the former judge’s comment was not relevant because the discussions were not a Collegium decision.
