Supreme Court rejects ED plea to cancel HC-granted Anil Deshmukh bail | India News


NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected an appeal by the Department of Enforcement to annul bail granted to NCP member and former Maharashtra interior minister. Anil Deshmukh in one money laundering the case in which he has been in jail since his arrest on 2nd November last year.

HC granted Deshmukh bail on provision of a bail bond and a security deposit of Rs 1 lakh on October 4. However, HC maintained the execution of its order until the 13th. October after the ED files it will challenge the order in the Supreme Court.
The ED alleges that Deshmukh abused his official position and exercised ‘excessive influence’ over the transmission and posting of police messages and allegedly used the Sachin Waze API (dismissed) after being arrested in connection with the Antilia bomb threat and the murder case of Mansukh Hiren last year) to collect money from restaurants at his behest.
