There’s no denying it, much The only people who have lived well in the past few years have been the wealthy. Case in point: Lamborghini just announced its “best ever” half-year results despite the threat of Covid-19, recession, and climate change is almost at the top. But what’s interesting for the company is that this sales boom wasn’t caused by a hugely popular V10 supercarthat’s thanks to an SUV.

Lamborghini’s fortunes have been on the rise in recent years. Like many other luxury car brandsit breaking sales records in the middle of a pandemic that has seen many of us fear for the future. Now, the company has broken another revenue milestone, reaching sales for the 6 months to the end of June 2022 reaching 1.33 billion euros. This marks a 30.6% increase year-on-year.

That’s sky high revenue is achieved when the company has delivered 5,090 vehicles during the period. Shocking statistics are that the majority of these models are not supercars like the Aventador or Huracán for which the brand is known. Instead, the company’s Urus SUV accounts for 61% of its sales so far this year.

Launched in 2018, the Urus was a hit for Lamborghini as soon as it was launched. In 2019, the automaker say more than half of its sales are due to Urusrather than increasingly popular its other models.

Now, follow The company’s latest sales figures, super SUV Urus accounted for 3,105 units sold by the Italian company this year. The remaining 1,985 cars are Huracán and Aventador models.

Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said in a statement: “We have reached the end of an exceptional first half of the year, although the geopolitical situation remains highly volatile. The outlook is equally positive, with orders covering all production in 2023.”

It’s not just sales that have increased for Lamborghini in the first half of this year, oh no. The company reported that its operating profit also increased by nearly 70% in the first six months of the year.
