Brodie Croft’s impressive debut season in the Betfred Super League with the Salford Reds was recognized with his selection to the 2022 Dream Team.
The 25-year-old former Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos defender has signed a new contract with life in England, helping the Reds secure a spot in the play-offs.
He was joined in the Dream Team, chosen by the Man of Steel panelists, by his Salford teammates Ken Sio and Tim Lafai, who were one of six new faces.
Other newcomers are Hull Kingston Rovers centre-back, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Wigan Warriors full-back Jai Field, Leeds Rhinos back-up Mikolaj Oledzki and second-row Huddersfield Giants Chris McQueen.
“Stay in the Man of Steel board and work for Sports sky which means I’ve had the chance to watch these amazing athletes show off some amazing skills weekly throughout the season,” said Man of Steel Panellist and Sports sky expert Barrie McDermott, a member of Dream Team 1999, said
“It’s great to see Mikolaj Oledzki developing into a first-rate striker and challenging his colleagues on a weekly basis. He has been a prestigious presence for his club all year and a debut is a must. very worthy.
“Along with familiar faces, it’s great to see new talent being given a spot on the team and all six players making their debut this season are very proud to be on the Dream Team roster.”
St Helens player James Roby, who recently announced he will play in 2023, returns to the team for the first time since 2018 with a seventh appearance, putting him second on the all-time list. with Andy Farrell, Keiron Cunningham and Sean O’ Loughlin.
His teammate Morgan Knowles was also named in the loose forward position in his fourth year running, while Jack Welsby and Alex Walmsley were two other players from the defending champions included.
McDermott said: “Watching five players retain their place on the team from 2021 shows talent and consistency in the Super League.
“One particular thing to mention is Morgan Knowles, who is rapidly creating a loose striker position after his fourth consecutive pick on the team.”
