Sudha Murthy’s timeless parenting tips are too good to ignore

Children have a sense of ownership. They are often reluctant to share things with others. Whether it’s toys or chocolates, anything a child holds in their hands is hard to let go.

Sharing is a very necessary behavior that children need to be taught.

On the share, Murthy shares a very interesting story, which is one of the most widely shared anecdotes about parenting. She has sometimes recounted this particular story about how she taught her son the importance of sharing.

When her son pestered her to throw a birthday party for him, she estimated the cost would be around Rs 50,000. Instead of immediately agreeing to her son’s request, she suggested that he throw a small party and give the rest of the money to their driver, to take care of his son’s education.

Murthy said: “He didn’t agree at first. “But then he agreed to a small party,” she added. To this, she added, “Years later, he gave me his scholarship money and asked me to use it to help the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the attack on 2001 Parliament in India.”
