Not long ago, I went on a weekend getaway with a group of friends, and we were in a riverside house.
It’s a GREAT home, however, there’s one thing that I think is pretty stupid: a separate bathroom for the master bedroom. That’s it, behind the silver swirling wall below. Note that there is no door to close it!
My first thought was that it would be less than ideal to let steam and condensate flow freely into the bedroom area – that’s a recipe for mold.
However, the resistance of the graft is the difficulty. In an OPEN private bathroom with no doors AND transparent glass walls! Poo with a watch anyone?!
I don’t know about you now, but personally I like a little privacy when I need my business.
And I love the guy so much, I really do NOT want to see him sitting on the throne every morning. It will make me immediately give up my cereal!
Here are some other stupid bathroom trends I’ve noticed while visiting recent showhouses:
- Wet room – It is becoming increasingly rare to have a curtain or door on your bathroom, which is a real puzzle for me. I imagine showering in a damp room would be more than cold in the winter, not to mention getting the whole room wet and messy!
- The bathroom does not have a floor grid – I don’t know much about plumbing but this looks wrong. What if clogged drain, or overflowing toilet? Instead of going down to the floor fence, it will flood the house!
- Doors with glass panels – While these may be acceptable on a dresser or kitchen cabinet, they are less than ideal for toilets and bathrooms. Even when they are frozen, they really don’t leave much to be desired!
- Dark and moody bathroom – It seems like we’re moving away from our fascination with bright, white, and bright bathrooms because we’ve seen so many bathrooms with cabinets, wallpaper, and dark tiles. Again, I’m not sure how realistic it is – isn’t natural light best when you’re wearing makeup?
While we love to renovate the bathroom in our house – here are some stupid bathroom ideas that we definitely won’t do!
