Streaming service bundles Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery

Disney And Warner Bros. Discovery The companies said Wednesday that they are planning to offer their streaming services — Disney+, Hulu and Max — in a package that mirrors a traditional cable TV package.

The latest version of the package, due out this summer, will be offered at both ad-supported and commercial-free levels. Pricing has not yet been revealed, but the option will be offered at a discount, according to a person familiar with the matter.

This person added that Disney would essentially act as a distributor in this case, collecting subscription fees from subscribers and paying Warner Bros. Discovery one percent.

This combination of Max, Disney+, and Hulu will give streaming subscribers access to a variety of content from the cable TV package. It will include broadcast networks ABC and Fox (Fox, which does not have its own entertainment streaming subscription service, licenses content on Hulu) as well as from cable networks including TNT, TBS, CNN, Discovery Channel , Food Network, Disney Channel and more.

The offer, reminiscent of the traditional cable TV package that has been discontinued in recent years and continues to attract customers at a breakneck pace, is the latest partnership between the two media giants in recent months.

Warner Bros. Disney’s Discovery and ESPN, along with Fox Corporation., have also joined forces to offer a sports streaming serviceis expected to launch this fall.

Earlier on Wednesday, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said on an earnings call that he thought the sports streaming venture would likely be accompanied by other entertainment streaming services.

Disney has offered its streaming services – Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ – as a bundle for some time. ESPN+ will still coexist with the sports streaming venture, but not as part of the Warner Bros. package. Discovery and Disney. Recent Hulu content has also been available integration to the Disney+ platform, although they still require a separate subscription.

Maximum cost is $9.99/month with ads or $15.99/month without ads. Disney+’s basic tier with ads costs $7.99 per month – or bundled with Hulu, $9.99 per month – while its premium plan is $13.99 per month, or $19.99 with Hulu. Meanwhile, Hulu costs $7.99 with ads or $17.99 without ads.
