Streak On the Line in Seaway for Lady Speightspeare
Level 1 winner due to Charles Fipke of house blood Lady Spectrum looking to extend her undefeated record at Honeysuckle September 17 in Seaway Stakes (G3) $150,000 for children and mares 3 years of age and older.
‘s 4-year-old daughter Sightstown will have a third start on Woodbine’s Tapeta main track and a third start at Seaway’s seven stretchers. Coached by Roger Attfield, the racer entered the race with consecutive wins on the track — winning a grass length at the one-mile Nassau Stakes (G2T) on July 2 and winning 1/4 length on August 13 in 8 Trillium 1/2 Longhair Stakes (G3) on Tapeta.
Lady Speightspeare will be piloted by Emma-Jayne Wilson, who has been involved but two of the girl’s 11 careers started. She’s a favorite of the 2-1 morning team and 6 eats 6 at Woodbine.
Coach Mark Casse, a 12-time recipient of the Sovereign’s Distinguished Trainer Award, came in third in Seaway to spoil the beloved series. He will be quiet Souper Sensational (3-1), Outside of Mybudget (10-1) and Nazuna (10-1).
Live Oak Plantation’s Souper Sensational had two wins spanning the previous seven at Woodbine. 4 years old of Curlin entering the race two seconds after finishing in ranked company — by neck in Royal North Stakes (G2T) at Woodbine and by one in Caress Stakes (G3T) at Racecourse Saratoga. The filth will be ridden by her husband Patrick. Victory over Casse will be his first at Seaway.
