Stephen Jones: Dak Prescott has the best camp of his career

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said that despite the extensive injury, midfielder Dak Prescott had an outstanding training camp.

“I think he had his best camp since he was a Cowboy,” Jones recently told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, “Obviously, as the midfielders get bigger, they get better. The good guys do. They get better every year.”

High praise raises expectations, especially when you’re the face of the Cowboys – a series that hasn’t made it to the Super Bowl since the 1995 season.

After fracturing his right ankle two years ago, Prescott made a full return last season. He threw for a 37 career peak hits in 2021 and lead the Cowboys to the first division championship since 2018.

The Cowboys hope Prescott will up his game again this season. That quest might be more difficult since he’s running out of experienced and healthy targets.

The Cowboys traded the Amari Cooper wide tape recorder for the Cleveland Browns during the off-season. Michael Gallup recipient is torn Left ACL in the last game of the season. James Washington suffered a broke his right leg early in training camp and will miss six to 10 weeks. CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown missed practice this week due to minor injuries.

Injuries did not discourage Prescott.

“This is exactly the time to work and get others to step up and take advantage of their opportunities,” he said. NFL.com.

The key quality of an excellent midfielder is the ability to elevate those around him. Prescott, who The Athletic ranks as a level 2 midfieldermay have to make that leap this season.
