Starlet, Future Highlights Six-Day Meeting in Los Alamitos

Four shares worth a total of $700,000 highlight the 2022 Winter Purebred Meet at Racetrack Los Alamitos for its six-day run from December 9 to 18. The race will be run from Friday to Sunday, with the first posting at 12:30 p.m. PT.
The first stake race is the most lucrative—$300,000 Starlet stakes (G1) for 2-year-olds. The 1 1/16 mile race will take place on December 10.
A week later, on December 17, 2-year-old boys were spotted in the $200,000 Los Alamitos Futurity (G2), also at 1 1/16 mile.
Starlet and Los Alamitos Futurity serve as point races on the Road to Kentucky Oaks and Road to the Kentucky Derby, respectively. They regularly attract some of the top youths based in Southern California.
Completing the schedule are two one-mile races for 2-year-olds bred or bred in California: $100,000 Soviet Problem Bet for puppies on December 11 and $100,000 King Glorious bets on ponies and ponies on December 18.
Entries for the opening day of the Winter Afternoon Encounter will be made on December 6. The Los Alamitos Purebred Encounter comes after the fall race at the Los Alamitos. Del Mar and before a winter/spring meeting at Santa Anita . Park starting December 26.
Los Alamitos, located in Orange County, also hosts evening races for Quarter Horses and lower-ranking Thoroughbreds throughout the year.
